LA HORA
Time is essential to the structure of our lives. We use time to determine when we get up in the morning, to go to school or work, to eat meals, to meet up with friends, attend appointments, make travel arrangements, and much more.
When abroad in another country it is important to know how to ask for the time, express the time, and read the time. In Spanish speaking countries of South American, Spain, and many other countries in Europe, the 24 hour clock is used for official schedules. Use of the 24 hour clock or military time, prevents any confusion caused by A.M. or P.M. However, remember that this is only used for official schedules like transportation times, movie times, and school schedules. Therefore, if you ask someone on the street, ¿Qué hora es?, they will most likely not express time using the 24 hour clock. |
